Meet Donald Trump's loyal supporters in the UK

While thousands of people descended on cities across the UK to protest Donald Trump's state visit, The US president was not without his supporters however.

Two groups, Republicans Overseas and Trump UK, were out in force along with many others to pledge their allegiance to the US leader and celebrate his visit.

The Independent spent the day with the people behind the two organisations.

We spoke to them about why, in the face of such criticism, they support the president and how they feel about mass protests against him.

"Donald Trump has brought a very unique message that nationalism does not mean isolationasim in the United States and the same thing can be true for the UK," one told us.

"If you look at the grand scheme of things Donald Trump has been a positive net impact on the worker, a positive net impact on global cohesion despite sort of, the way he had to break down certain barriers. So I would say look at the body of the work."
