As Donald Trump wraps up his state visit to the UK and departs for Ireland, The Independent looks back at some of the memorable moments from his visit.

From his awkward handshake with the Queen to the numerous protests against his visit (that Mr Trump claimed had “flopped”), the president’s time in London has seen plenty of photo opportunities.

Before he had even landed at Stansted, Mr Trump faced protests in the notable form of an Essex teenager mowing a giant climate change message – amongst other things – into a field visible from the president's plane.

After touching down at Buckingham Palace, Mr Trump immersed himself in the pomp of Britain’s royal traditions, inspecting a royal guard and attending a lavish state banquet.

Then to meet the prime minister, where a red carpet was rolled out in front of 10 Downing Street to welcome him.

Perhaps the most memorable pictures though, come from the demonstrations on Whitehall which saw the return of the baby blimp, a 20ft Trump statue sat on a golden toilet and a man selling Donald Trump toilet paper, to name a few.

The Independent has compiled the most memorable pictures from Mr Trump’s visit in the gallery above.
