Police ask public to identify man who lay dead in barn for at least a year

Police have been unable to identify the body through scientific means

Police in Hampshire have released a facial reconstruction image of a man found dead in a disused barn near Winchester in an effort to identify his remains.

Officers were searching the barn in the village of Micheldever in December 2017 for an unrelated case when they came across the decomposed remains of the unidentified man. It is thought that the body had been there for over a year.

So far police have tried and failed to identify the man through DNA testing, dental records and fingerprint analysis on items found in the barn.

Alongside the body were found a rucksack, an A-Z map of Great Britain and various items of clothing. Photographs of these items have also been released.

Following a post mortem examination that showed no signs of restraint or assault, the death is being treated as non-suspicious.
