A man’s body has washed up on Cleethorpes beach in northeast Lincolnshire, police have said.

Humberside Police said the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was not thought to have been in the water “for very long”.

Officers were called by a member of the public to an area of the beach near the Wonderland amusement arcade at 8.30am on Friday.

The force said in a statement: “Enquiries are in their very early stages and we are currently treating the man’s death as unexplained.”

Coastguard and ambulance crews also attended the scene.

The Cleethorpes seafront has been cordoned off and people have been asked to avoid the beach.

The man’s body is expected to be examined by a pathologist on Friday.
