A teenager is fighting for life in hospital after being shot in a north London street.

Police were called to reports of gunshots heard on Walterton Road, in Maida Hill, shortly before 8.30pm on Tuesday.

A man in his late teens was found with a gunshot injury, police said in a statement.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Anyone with infomation is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 7338/3Dec.

One witness reported hearing “two bangs” at 8.29pm.

They wrote on Twitter: “I heard two ‘bangs’. I thought it was bangers. Hope he’s ok. Road closed off, residents being escorted to their homes by police.”

The Real Maida Hill W9 Twitter account said “several” shots were fired, adding that sniffer dogs were at the scene looking for discarded weapons.
