Man to be charged with murdering teenager who died from injuries suffered as baby
Boy died in 2016 as a result of brain injuries suffered 15 years earlier
A man is to be charged with murder over the death of a boy injured as a baby 15 years earlier.
John Doak, 36, has been summonsed to appear in court over the death of teenager Jack Mitchell in Laindon, Essex.
Jack died in 2016 at the age of 15, Essex Police said.
A post-mortem examination found the teenager died from a pulmonary infection and pneumonia as a result of brain injuries he suffered as a baby.
An inquest last year heard Jack had been severely disabled, with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, curvature of the spine, and blindness.
Mr Doak, of Delgate Avenue in Spalding, Lincolnshire, is due to face a murder charge at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
