A teenager has died after being stabbed during a fight outside a block of flats in east London.

The 19-year-old man was found with stab wounds after police were called to the incident outside Owen Waters House in Fullwell Avenue, Ilford, at 10.20pm on Tuesday.

Metropolitan Police officers gave first aid to the teenager until London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are attempting to notify his next of kin.

No arrests have been made.

A Section 60 Order, which allows officers expanded stop and search powers, was put in place for the borough of Redbridge until 6.30am on Wednesday.

Police are investigating whether the stabbing is linked to a reported fire at a nearby set of garages.

Police suspect the victim, found in Nelson Street, Whitechapel, was shot in the head.

The man remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Police have launched an attempted murder investigation and a forensic scene is in place.
