Apply now for a postgraduate investigative journalism scholarship with The Independent and the London Evening Standard
It includes £10,000 of course fees and a year paid contract as a trainee
A unique opportunity has been created by the London Evening Standard, The Independent and City University of London to fund an opening into investigative journalism.
The post graduate journalism scholarship includes a masters degree course followed by a year of paid on-the-job training at the London Evening Standard and The Independent.
Professor Heather Brooke, pathway leader for MA Investigative Journalism at City University, said: "Thorough and professional investigative journalism about matters of public importance is needed more than ever.
"I'm delighted we can now offer this fantastic scholarship to a student of merit who needs financial help. There's a danger journalism could become a profession only for those who can afford university tuition. Thanks to the generosity of our funder and partner this opening will be a candidate’s merit regardless of their finances."
The scholarship is worth £10,000 of course fees, sponsored by Quadrature Capital, plus £2,500 living expenses contributed by City University.
The successful candidate will also receive paid work experience during the one-year postgraduate course and the following year as a paid trainee in the editorial department of the Evening Standard and The Independent.
Applicants must apply by 21 August by emailing Professor Brooke journalism@city.ac.uk.
