A man’s body has been found in a wheelie bin in north London, police have said.

Officers were called to Tollington Road, Islington, after the body was discovered at about 4pm on Saturday.

The man’s death is “being treated as unexplained” and no arrests have been made, the Metropolitan Police added.

Detectives are working to establish the his identity.

A post-mortem examination has not yet been held.

A forensics tent was erected at the scene, close to the car park of a Waitrose supermarket, pictures on social media showed.

Officers cordoned off surrounding roads, which remained shut on Saturday night.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: “At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained. Enquiries led by the Central North Command continue.”
