Milla Jovovich announces third pregnancy after ‘horrific’ emergency abortion

Milla Jovovich has revealed she’s pregnant with her third child after having a “horrific” abortion two years ago.

On Thursday, the actor shared the news on Instagram by posting a photograph of herself with her baby bump alongside the caption: “Knocked up again”.

The Dazed and Confused star explained that she felt “complete joy and utter terror” when she found out she’d be having a third child.

“Because of my age and losing the last pregnancy I didn’t want to get attached to this potential baby too quickly,” Jovovich wrote.

“That was obviously not fun and the last few months have been my family and I living on pins and needles waiting for a slew of different test results to come in and spending most of our time in doctors offices.”

Jovovich went on to express her gratitude and revealed she and her husband, film writer and director Paul Anderson, are expecting a baby girl. The couple already have two daughters together, Ever, 11, and Dashiel, four.

“Anyway, wish me and my baby luck!” the actor concluded. “I send you all a lot of love and I’ll keep you posted on my progression!”

The model’s post has garnered more than 532,000 likes and thousands of comments from fans and famous friends, including model Alessandra Ambrosio, who wrote: “So happy for you guys”.

News of the 43-year-old actor’s pregnancy follows the revelation that she’d had an emergency abortion two years ago.

Jovovich shared her experience in a candid Instagram post in May as several US states passed restrictive abortion bills, subsequently making it incredibly difficult – and in some cases impossible – for women to access terminations.

“I was four-and-a-half months pregnant and shooting on location in Eastern Europe,” the actor wrote.

“I went into pre term labour and told that I had to be awake for the whole procedure. ‘It was one of the most horrific experiences I have ever gone through. I still have nightmares about it. I was alone and helpless. ‘When I think about the fact that women might have to face abortions in even worse conditions than I did because of new laws, my stomach turns.”

Jovovich went on to describe the experience as her “personal hell”, adding: “the memory of what I went through and what I lost will be with me till the day I die".
