Lori Loughlin’s daughter has come under criticism for saying in a resurfaced YouTube video that she doesn’t “really care” about her education – as her mother has been charged for allegedly taking part in a large-scale college admissions bribing scheme.

Olivia Jade Giannulli, who has a lifestyle channel on the streaming platform, can be heard saying in the August 2018 clip that she’s not sure how many classes she will attend when she starts university, and that she mainly cares about “partying” and “game days”.

Authorities allege in court documents that Loughlin, a former star of the sitcom Full House, and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, ”agreed to a pay bribes totalling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the [University of Southern California] crew team – despite the fact that they did not participate in crew – thereby facilitating their admission to USC”.

Ms Giannulli confirmed to her viewers in her 2018 video that she would be attending university and that she was planning on living in a dorm with a roommate.

She then said “work” engagements would complicate her schedule, explaining that she was set to go to Fiji during her first week of university.

“I don’t know how much of school I’m gonna attend, but I’m gonna go in and talk to my deans and everyone, and hope that I can try and balance it all,” the YouTuber said.

“But I do want the experience of game days and partying.

“I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know.”

The 19-year-old was criticised for her comments when she first released the video, then faced more backlash after it was revealed that her parents are among those charged with ”conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud”.

“Why would [you] wanna go to school for parties and games but not for the education...?” one person wrote in a YouTube comment after the news broke.

“Wow, this didn’t age well did it?” someone else commented.

Back in August 2018, Ms Giannulli apologised for her remarks in a follow-up video, telling her viewers she had “said something super ignorant and stupid” and that she was “really disappointed in [herself]”.

At least nine athletic coaches and 33 parents, including former Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman, have been charged.

It was unclear when Full House star Loughlin would turn herself in. Loughlin’s husband was released in Los Angeles after posting a $1 million bond.
