Meet the Nissan GT-R Litchfield LM20

There is an argument – and it’s made in the video – that 570bhp and 460lb ft of torque is really, really more than enough for a Nissan GT-R. That’s what the current production car makes, and for most people that would be too much to comfortably deal with on the open road. However.

However, a lot of owners seem to buy one and instantly go in search of more horsepower as if that is the morally right thing to do, even if they don’t want to do it. They could simply buy a Nismo version from Nissan with 600bhp, but many more turn to the tuning companies that specialize in releasing yet more madness from the mighty Godzilla.

A company which has been speeding up the GT-R for a decade, to the extent that the cars are sped up almost to fast-forward speed, is Litchfield. To celebrate its twentieth anniversary in the tuning game the company is releasing a special GT-R called the LM20. Appropriately, 20 also refers to the number Litchfield will make.

It’s a very sensible car by Litchfield standards. It makes ‘only’ 675bhp with 615lb ft of torque from the 3.8-litre turbo’d V6. To put that in perspective, Litchfield reckons 800bhp from the same motor is ‘sensible’.

Add in a lot of carbonfibre parts, like the aero on the nose and the spoiler on the back, then roll it on HRE wheels carrying Alcon brakes, shod with Michelin Cup 2 tyres, and you’re getting close to the LM20 package. Oh, and don’t forget the bigger exhaust.

Watch the video and that will be the last thing you forget. Turn it up, and see why it is perfectly ‘sensible’ to build a near-700bhp GT-R that costs six figures.
