Hilaria Baldwin reveals she has suffered a second miscarriage

Hilaria Baldwin has suffered a miscarriage four months into her pregnancy.

On Monday the author, who has four children with her husband, Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin, shared the news on Instagram.

The 35-year-old posted a video of her telling her daughter Carmen, 6, that the baby would no longer be arriving as planned.

In the caption, Baldwin revealed that she discovered she had lost the baby shortly after attending her 20-week scan and admitted that she was not expecting the unfortunate outcome.

The loss is especially devastating for the yoga instructor who last suffered a miscarriage just seven months ago.

“We are very sad to share that today we learned that our baby passed away at four months,” Baldwin wrote.

“We also want you to know that even though we are not ok right now, we will be. We are so lucky with our four healthy babies and we will never lose sight of this.”

Baldwin went on to explain that the video she posted was taken to send to her husband and that she felt it was a good way to share the news with her followers.

“I’m really devastated right now...I was not expecting this when I went to my scan today,” Baldwin added.

“I don’t know what else to say...I’m still in shock and don’t have this all quite clear.”

Separately, Baldwin shared an Instagram Story of her cradling her bump in bed with the caption: “Today didn't go as planned. I'm very sad. Tonight is my last night with her...such a strange experience.”

Baldwin revealed in September that she was expecting her fifth child after she suffered a previous pregnancy loss in April.

She revealed news of her first miscarriage on Instagram by posting an image of herself in her underwear holding her small bump.

The mother wrote in the caption that she was “most likely experiencing a miscarriage” as while the baby had a heartbeat, it was not “strong”.

At the time, Baldwin said she was choosing to speak out about the loss in hopes of normalising miscarriage and to encourage people to talk about the struggles of conceiving.

“I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss,” she wrote.

“I have always been so open with you all about my family, fitness, pregnancies … and I don’t want to keep this from you, just because it isn’t as positive and shiny as the rest.

Baldwin added, “I think it’s important to show the truth because my job is to help people by being real and open. Furthermore, I have no shame or embarrassment with this experience. I want to be a part of the effort to normalise miscarriage and remove the stigma from it."
