Bakers from the fifth series of The Great British Bake Off reunited over the weekend to celebrate the nuptials of fellow contestant Martha Collison.

The wedding was made especially sweet thanks to the culinary talents of the former Bake Off participants in attendance.

Series winner Nancy Birtwhistle, finalist Richard Burr and Claire Goodwin, who was eliminated by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood in the first episode, were among those who baked cakes in celebration of Collison's marriage to accountant Michael Haywood.

Chetna Makan, who made it to the semi-final in 2014, shared a series of photographs on Instagram of herself and her fellow bakers at the wedding.

"What a day! Having known @marthacollison since she was 17, watching her get married to @mbhaywood27 yesterday was just lovely and beautiful and even more special since we had the whole Bake Off family there to celebrate!" Makan wrote in the caption.

"Also an honour to make her cake with all the other bakers, love each and everyone one of them!" she added.

Burr also shared a selection of pictures from the wedding on Instagram, remarking that it was "great to have a Bake Off catch up".

From the cakes they created in honour of Collison's wedding, it's apparent that the Bake Off contestants continue to vary when it comes to their baking styles.

Birtwhistle decided to create a blush pink Prinsesstårta, a Swedish layer cake, which she made with raspberry jam, Genoise sponge, pastry cream and a Swiss meringue buttercream crumb coat.

Goodwin opted to take a more chocolatey approach, creating a three-tiered cake complete with chocolate pretzels, Galaxy bars, chocolate truffles and mini gold eggs.

Several Bake Off fans expressed their delight on social media over the contestants' reunion.

"I think this is the actual definition of friendship goals," one person tweeted.

"This is the wholesome content the world needs right now," someone else commented.

At 17, Collison was the youngest contestant ever to appear on the Great British Bake Off when she competed in 2014.

Now 22, the baker has released two cookery books and writes a weekly column for the Waitrose weekend newspaper.

Following her wedding, Collison shared a photo of herself and Haywood which shows the couple holding hands after exchanging their vows.

"The most joyful day ever," she wrote in the caption.
