Tesla ATV: Elon Musk says Cyberquad is coming soon but electric motorbike never will

Elon Musk has revealed more details about the Tesla Cyberquad ATV but said the company would never build an electric road bike.

The electric quadbike was first unveiled alongside the Tesla Cybertruck last month, though very little information was provided about the vehicle during the calamitous event.

Taking questions on Twitter on Sunday, the Tesla boss said the electric ATV would launch at the same time as the electric truck.

The exact release date of the Cybertruck is not yet known but it is expected to be at some point in 2021 or early 2022.

“We’ll aim to have it come out same time as truck,” Mr Musk said. “Two seater electric ATV designed to work with Cybertruck would be fun.”

The billionaire entrepreneur added that an electric dirt bike could also be a possibility in the future, though ruled out the possibility of a Tesla motorbike for road use.

“Electric dirt bikes would be cool too. We don’t do road bikes, as too dangerous,” he said.

“I was hit by a truck and almost died on one when I was 17.”

Mr Musk has consistently said that electric vehicles are needed in every vehicle category in order "to solve sustainable energy", with the Cybertruck and ATV part of his attempts to fulfill this.

Despite the mishap during the Cybertruck’s unveiling – when two armoured windows were smashed by a metal ball – Tesla’s latest model has proved to be one of the most popular all-electric vehicles of all time.

Within one week of the truck’s unveiling it had racked up more than 250,000 pre-orders and generated more than $25 million worth of down payments.

It may still be years away from launch but it was recently spotted driving on public roads in Howthorne, California.

The electric ATV shares the same futuristic design as the Cybertruck and is built to be transported and charged on the bed of the truck.

Pre-orders are not yet available for the Cyberquad and it is still not listed on Tesla’s website.
