PS5: PlayStation gives first details of brand new console

Sony has launched the official website for the PS5, potentially suggesting a launch is imminent.

Numerous rumours have suggested the console could be officially launched this month, and the launch of the website indicates that may be true.

The page includes little information about the console, which has been extensively trailed by Sony for months.

But it indicates that a major announcement could be about to come.

"We've begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5, but we're not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation," the message on the site reads.

It encourages readers to sign up "to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games".

The site also includes the recently announced PS5 logo, which many have noted is almost identical to that of the PS4. It also features a message saying that "PlayStation 5 is coming" and re-affirming the previously announced release date of "Holiday 2020".

Both UK and German versions of the website have been set live, as noted on Reddit, where the pages were first discovered. They are identical apart from the languages.

Notably, the page can still only be found by navigating directly to it. It does not appear on the homepage or the list of different PlayStation hardware on the website's menu.
