A new OnePlus 7 leak has revealed a radical camera design for the forthcoming Android smartphone.

Notorious leaker @Onleaks published rendered images of the device on Twitter, showing off an edge-to-edge screen and a pop-up camera.

The pop-up camera borrows from a similar design introduced with the Vivo Nex S, which hid the selfie camera in order to avoid a large bezel or notch at the top of the screen.

The front-facing camera has proved to be the biggest stumbling block for smartphone makers hoping to manufacture an all-screen device.

Apple's solution was to use a notch design for its iPhone X, while Samsung opted for a hole-punch design for its recently-announced Galaxy S10 range of smartphones.

The OnePlus 7 is expected to launch in either May or June this year, though no official announcement has yet been made.

Like previous OnePlus models, the OnePlus 7 will likely feature flagship specs at a mid-level price. The Chinese phone maker, whose slogan is "Never Settle", has sought to deliver on this business model since launching into a crowded market in 2013.

It has since grown a loyal following that has helped its market share make a dent on the tech giants it is taking on.

Mainstream attention is still largely sucked up by Apple and Samsung, however, with OnePlus forced to change the release date of its latest 6T phone following a scheduling clash with an Apple.

"We have to remain realistic," OnePlus CEO Pete Lau wrote in a blog post at the time. "We have only just begun our journey and cannot afford to let one of the most important products in our history be affected by another great product launch."

Other rumours surrounding the OnePlus 7 include an impressive 10GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 855 chipset.

Keeping up with market trends, the a 5G version of the OnePlus 7 phone is also anticipated, following similar announcements from Huawei and Samsung.
