Twitter users discuss their most hated vegetables in hilarious thread
‘Asparagus tastes like bitterness and despair’
Everyone knows that eating vegetables is a key component to a healthy lifestyle.
However, that hasn’t stopped people on Twitter from launching a hate campaign against the vegetables that they can’t stand the most.
A couple of days ago, senior legal analyst Imani Gandy tweeted: “Is there a vegetable that’s a bigger liar than spinach?”, also sharing a photo of a small amount of spinach in a saucepan.
A tirade of passionate tweets came soon thereafter in response to Gandy’s initial question, and the list of deceptive vegetables out there is seemingly quite extensive.
Many people had strong feelings about the unusual popularity of kale over the past few years.
“No kidding - it only occurred to me last year that kale has been right in our faces this whole time, filling in space in salad bars and salsa stations. What a rebranding,” one person wrote.
Another described kale as tasting like “green construction paper”.
While not a criticism per se, one individual commented that celery is “just water, neatly organised into lines.”
Some people on the Twitter thread were far more damning than others.
“Parsnips. They’re Satanic carrots,” someone remarked.
However, asparagus received one of the most evocative statements of all, described as tasting like “bitterness and despair”, and like “late middle age in vegetable form.”
Of course, there are always some who will make take any opportunity to share some toilet humour.
“Peas! They look innocent but taste like farts,” one person imaginatively wrote.
