The days are getting shorter, temperatures are dropping and cosy jumpers, scarves and hats are more or less indispensable: winter is coming.

At this time of year, bundling up and venturing out into the cold only to return to somewhere warm and cosy is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

But after unravelling your scarf and leaving your cold, wet shoes at the door, the last thing you want to do is disrobe into a sobering shower.

Instead, cold winter nights call for a sensuous soak as the perfect way to melt all of the day’s stresses.

While it might be a daily necessity, with the addition of a few pampering products you can quickly transform your simple tub into a heavenly spa-like experience.

While grown-up bath products normally aren’t as fun as the foamy stuff kids can get away with using, there is one brand that manages to perfectly straddle the line between novelty and indulgence.

Lush’s new Christmas range is chock-full of cult classics like the Snow Fairy and Rose Jam shower gels – which now come packaging free – as well as a whole host of beguiling bath bombs and bubble bars, like the Christmas Cracker, Shoot For The Stars or the Luxury Lush Pud.

Those with a sweet tooth will also be pleased to hear that skincare experts Philosophy are back with a range of saccharine goodies. Our favourites are the Christmas Cookie and Candy Cane shampoo: bath and shower gel hybrids.

For a proper pamper that calls for candles, face masks and a locked bathroom door, something a tad more refined is required.

Here Laura Mercier’s Sweet Temptations, L’Occitane’s Delicious Almond Collection or Jo Malone’s vast array of beautiful oils will certainly appease the most well-seasoned of bath junkies.

Similarly, those on the hunt for some serious, soul-soothing downtime should look to the healing properties of pretty much anything by Susanne Kaufmann. A brand dedicated to harnessing centuries-old wisdom in its products, they are the remedy for tired and aching muscles after a long, cold day.
