At Creatures of the Wind rounded square nails were painted with layers of stark white polish

Traditionally, spring tends to conjure ideas of rejuvenation and reinvention. So, just as we pack away our cosy knits, the time has struck to refresh our beauty stash too.

Sure, the prospect of slipping on a pair of shorts might seem premature thanks to the changeable climate but it’s never too early for a new season revamp - especially when it comes to your nails.

The perfect opportunity to update your mani-pedi game, the runways called upon unseasonally snowy digits for spring/summer 2017.

But, these iterations were far from the Tippex fuelled mani’s of your school days. Oh no, this time round the go-with-everything shade was executed to perfection and polished with a serious high-shine.

A running theme, what made this throwback shade feel new again was partly down to the cut of the nail which saw sharp, squared-off edges run the gamut of shows.

At Creatures of the Wind, lead nail artist Danielle Candido applied Morgan Taylor All White Now to a rounded square nail using a technique she referred to as ‘floating the coat.’

Here, instead of pulling the polish from base to tip, she dropped a dot in to the centre of the nail and spread it out to avoid any streaking.

At Mulberry, nail artists alternated white with another of this season’s trends, nudes, while at Marissa Web things got graphic.

In line with her collection, the designer opted for a negative space manicure that was created by applying a sticker stencil diagonally across the nail bed and then painted with two coats of Zoya Snow White.

Executing an sub-zero mani at home requires careful consideration, a steady hand and above all else, a clean and healthy nail.

To create this look at home, start by prepping your nails to create a clean base and, for a runway inspired look, trim them back to a short, rounded edge.

When it comes to the polish, investing in a good quality brand pays off here as white formulas are notoriously unforgiving. It’s also important to apply a base coat beforehand to prevent chips and a glossy top coat for added shine.
