The pink carpet was rolled out today for the annual lingerie extravaganza that is the Victoria’s Secret show. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the show. Following last year’s relocation to London, the show was back in New York at the Lexington Avenue Armory.

This year’s line-up was the biggest ever with 44 models cast to walk in the show. High profile angels Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Behati Prinsloo and Lily Aldridge were all on hand alongside 10 newly winged angels.

However the main attraction were two new recruits to the brand – Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, who despite being novices to the show boast social media followings that dwarf their fellow models, making them a major coup for the retailer.

Back to the show itself – think a catwalk show with an obscene amount of glitter, miles of toned flesh on show and a dozen or so pairs of wings. Despite Rihanna’s last minute pull-out, the show went ahead with an impressive line-up of performers – Selena Gomez, The Weeknd and Ellie Goulding, the latter of whom was drafted in at the last minute to replace Rihanna.

The show was split into 6 sections; Boho Pyschedelic, Exotic Butterflies, Portrait of an Angel, Pink USA, Ice Angels and Fireworks. The show was opened for the second year in a row by Behati Prinsloo and closed by new Angel Martha Hunt.

Both Jenner and Hadid took to the catwalk twice; Jenner first in a red and blue lacy corset number and then a sheer sequin body. Hadid modelled a green butterfly inspired gown followed by a fireman inspired crop top and trousers for the Pink section of the show.

One of the star attractions is the ‘fantasy bra’ – this year a $2 million pound bejewelled creation, modelled by Lily Aldridge.

The show airs worldwide in a month from now, but to add to the confusion it actually takes place twice with the entire production staged once in the afternoon and again in the evening to ensure every angle is captured just right.
