The first day of Trump’s UK visit ended with a four-course State Banquet held in the ballroom at Buckingham Palace.
Such an occasion naturally calls for sartorial opulence and guests including the Duchess of Cambridge , Melania Trump and Ivanka Trump most definitely delivered, with custom haute couture, royal orders and spectacular tiaras between them.
While the Duchess donned her go-to designer, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen , the first lady chose a crepe ivory gown by Dior and Ivanka wore a powder blue shirt dress by American fashion designer Carolina Herrera.
The male attendees – who included Philip May , Jared Kushner and the Duke of Cambridge – mostly wore traditional tails and white bow-ties.
