Last night, Rihanna presented the highly anticipated second annual Savage X Fenty Show the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn during New York Fashion Week (NYFW).

Shortly before the show kicked off, the Barbadian singer posted a teaser on Instagram, promising that the event would be “bigger and badder” than ever.

Elsewhere on social media, however, content from the new Savage x Fenty collection has been almost non-existent after Rihanna placed all guests at the show on a strict phone ban.

The reason? The entire performance is set to stream exclusively to Amazon Prime Video across 200 countries and territories on Friday 20 September, ensuring it reaches audiences well beyond that of a traditional catwalk.

Photographs from the red carpet offer a glimpse at the roster of celebrity attendees which included the likes of models Gigi and Bella Hadid, and actors Vanessa Hudgens and Hailee Steinfeld.

Meanwhile, a selection of images from inside the venue reveal the extraordinary fashion showcase that guests experienced, with blinding lights and models standing on top of pillars as they posed like sculptures.

The show opened with Rihanna storming the runway in a black lace unitard, while there were also a host of musical performances from Halsey, A$AP Ferg and DJ Khaled.

Actors, dancers, and models made up the majority of year’s runway stars, including 21 Savage, the Hadid sisters, Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls, Alek Wek, and Laverne Cox making an appearance.

The show had been cast to reflect the inclusivity of the collection which boasts a broad size range, running from 32A to 42H in bras and XS-3X for briefs.

The collection featured everything from lace bralettes and satin negligee dresses to silky gowns and body suits.

In a press release, Rihanna explained her thought process behind the line, stating: “We want to make people look good and feel good. We want you to feel sexy and have fun doing it.”

Earlier this year, the singer-cum-designer became the first black woman to lead a fashion brand at the world’s largest luxury conglomerate, LVMH, when she launched Fenty.
