The 2019 Oscars are tipped to be a spectacular affair, with the Academy currently dusting off the red carpet of the Dolby theatre in Los Angeles in preparation for the star-studded event.
Taking place on Sunday 24 February, several acting nominees will be attending the ceremony for the first time, while other film veterans will be well-accustomed to walking the red carpet surrounded by golden Oscar statues, paparazzi and fellow A-listers.
This year marks Glenn Close 's seventh Oscar nomination, having received her first in 1983 for her performance in The World According to Garp .
While Lady Gaga is also in the running for Best Actress, with her first nomination for her powerhouse performance in A Star Is Born , the singer attended the ceremony for the first time five years ago.
