David Bowie had a profound influence on the fashion industry, so it's no surprise that yesterday as the news broke of his death that he would be honoured in some way at the autumn/winter 2016 collections presented as part of LCM.

Yesterday, Burberry was the big bill of the day, rounding off a 4 day long showing of menswear collections. The high profile show took the opportunity to pay tribute to the late singer.

First, guests were greeted at the show held in Kensington, by a Bowie soundtrack with some of the musician's greatest hits including 'Changes' played.

Glitter tears at the Burberry AW16 show

Usually it's the clothes that take centre-stage at these shows, but as models took the runway many appeared to be crying glitter tears with the makeup look for the show created by Wendy Rowe paying tribute to the iconic star and his trademark 'glam rock' look.

Christopher Bailey, the brand's Chief Executive and Creative office spoke about the makeup in an interview with The Telegraph yesterday:

"I was just going to put it on one male model and then suddenly they all wanted it" he explained.

"It didn't feel right to do a show that was celebratory today, when the news is so profoundly sad."

The tributes didn't stop there with model Hayett McCarthy writing a tribute to the star on her hands and revealing it to photographers as she walked down the runway.

A representative for the brand told Refinery29 that the tribute was instigated by the model herself and not organised by the brand stating it was "her own personal tribute to the musician."

McCarthy who also stars in the brand's new season ad campaign later posted an image of herself making the tribute on Instagram with the caption:

"Nuff said today. Thank you @burberry for working with me and letting me be myself both on shoots and shows, always."
