Tiffany Haddish brought a bag of fried chicken with her to the Met Gala and people are loving it.

The actor and comedian arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night wearing a zebra-print trouser-suit designed by Michael Kors, a matching clutch-bag and hat designed by British milliner Stephen Jones.

However, it wasn’t Haddish’s outfit that stole the attention of onlookers.

Speaking to reporters on the red carpet, the 39-year-old opened her clutch bag to reveal she had hidden a large Ziploc bag inside that was filled with home-made fried chicken.

“Last year I came and there was not enough food and I was hungry,” she told E! News.

“When I’m hungry my attitude’s not good so I said I’m gonna be prepared this year. So I brought chicken.

“I didn’t go to KFC. Tiffany know how to cook.”

People watching the red carpet action at home praised the star for being “relatable” while others called her their “spirit animal”.

“Tiffany Haddish came to the Met Gala with chicken in her bag because there wasn’t enough food there... if that’s not the most relatable, me thing I don’t know what is. She wins,” one person wrote.

Another added: “I love Tiffany Haddish even more becayse she has a stash of chicken in her bag. Whatta boss! [sic]”.

A third person wrote: “Tiffany Haddish is my spirit animal bringing chicken to the f***ing met gala.”

In an interview with W Magazine ahead of the event, Haddish revealed that she hoped the food would be different this time round.

“Man, I was hungry as hell. Last year, I was so hungry,” she said.

“This year, I got me a bigger bag. Gonna put some fried chicken in it. Don’t tell nobody till tomorrow.

“ I’ve already called a few people that I know are going like, ‘So, I’m going to bring the chicken. You bring the hot sauce, okay?’”

Haddish’s outfit for this year’s Met Gala is thought to feature more than 17,000 sequins on the suit jacket and 40,000 on the trousers.

Kors, who designed the ensemble, also referenced outfits worn by Elton John and Liberace.
