Traditionally, the meaning of spring conjures ideas of rejuvenation and reinvention.

But while the prospect of pulling on a pair of shorts might seem premature thanks to the chilly climate, it’s not too early for a new season revamp; especially when it comes to fragrance.

Brighter days call for lighter aromas as the heady perfumes we once prised are to be replaced with a healthy roster of refreshing scents to suit spring.

And luckily, there’s a steady stream of new-season launches dropping into stores.

Just as we pack away our cosy knits into hibernation, it’s finally time to slip into something a little lighter.

Now, florals in spring are hardly groundbreaking but in a blossom-heavy season, it’s a timeless go-to for perfumers.

For a lighter take on blooms, look to Clean Reserve’s Blonde Rose for a sensual mix of peony and rose that can also be worn by men, especially when paired with the brand’s Sueded Oud.

Similarly, others are offering up fresher takes on perennial classics like Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb Bloom, Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Kiss and Giorgio Armani Si Rose Signature.

If soft, feminine and powdery whiffs are more your thing though Alaia Paris’ Parfum Blanche guarantees to please with a sweet mix of almond, heliotrope and musky vanilla.

Likewise, Mon Guerlain and Gucci’s Bamboo Limited Edition propose a light yet indulgent take on fresh florals.

But, for those who prefer a little citrus-zing with their cologne you can’t go wrong with Estée Lauder’s Modern Muse Le Rouge Gloss, Atelier Cologne Pomelo Paradis or Creed Aventus for her.

The latest iteration of Modern Muse bestows a sensual, fruity scent with hints of black cherry and pink pepper, while Creed promises to awaken your senses with a single spritz of crisp green apple, pink berries and sweet peach.

For a seriously heavy dose of zestiness though, we recommend Pomelo Paradis, which packs a punch full of orange blossom, mandarin and grapefruit.
