Love Island 2019: Amy reveals she is leaving villa to give Curtis better chance at finding love

Love Island's Amy Hart has posted an emotional message on Instagram about her choice to leave the show, saying that she believes her decision was the "right one".

On Tuesday night's episode of the ITV2 reality dating programme, Amy took her former love interest Curtis Pritchard aside to inform him that she had decided to leave the villa.

The 27-year-old explained to the professional ballroom dancer that she didn't feel she would be ready in the next three weeks to become romantically involved with someone new, following their four-week relationship.

On Thursday, the flight attendant shared her first Instagram post since departing from the villa, opening with the line: "IT'S ONLY ME IT'S ONLY AMZ!" in the caption.

Amy expressed her gratitude for the messages of support she's received from fans, before describing the decision to leave Love Island as "scary".

"It was a scary decision to make but the outpouring of love has confirmed what I already knew, it was the right one," Amy wrote.

"My villa experience was the time of my life and my heartbreak was only a small part of my entire journey. I would do it all again tomorrow."

The former islander continued, stating that she had left the villa on "good terms with everybody".

Amy shared a photograph on Instagram of a piece of graffiti depicting her on a wall in Worthing, West Sussex, where she is from.

The former beauty queen's post on the social media platform has garnered numerous messages of support from Instagram users, including some from fellow past Love Island contestants.

"That's amazing!!!" wrote Callum Macleod, who was the first contestant to be evicted from this year's series.

"Absolutely loved you in the villa, cried along with you when you made your leaving speech. You were fab and still are fab," a fan commented.

In a recent interview with The Sun, Amy stated that she quit the show in order to protect her mental health, after watching Curtis and fellow contestant Maura Higgins begin to show interest in one another.

“I chose my mental health over the reality show,” the islander said.

”I was in a very horrible place over the last week, to be told that the gloves were off with Maura and I had to ‘brace myself’, like a storm. I knew I had to leave when I did."
