Milan Fashion Week: Silvia Venturini Fendi sheds tears as she takes bow for Autumn/Winter show on behalf of Karl Lagerfeld

An Instagram account representing Karl Largerfeld's cat has paid tribute to the late designer in a touching and funny post.

While the fashion world has been mourning the loss of the designer, concerned well-wishers have also been wondering what will become of Lagerfeld’s famous pet.

Putting people’s minds at rest, digital marketing expert Ashley Tschudin who runs the account @choupettesdiary shared a post on behalf of the feline heiress on Instagram in which they thanked the account's followers for their kind words.

Alongside an image of Choupette wearing a black veil as she is held by Lagerfeld, the caption reads: “Thank you everyone for your words of condolence (crying cat emoji).

“With a once cold but now simply broken heart, I am going into mourning.

“I pray that your kind words and well-wishes will help me to put my best paw forward in my future without Daddy @KarlLagerfeld & as my own woman.”

The emotional post has been liked more than 70,000 times and received an influx of messages from fans.

“My heart is broken for you Choupette,” one person wrote.

Another added: “Choupette! May you never want for anything. Your daddy loves your outfit!”

A third commented: “Beautiful girl. You will get through all this grief.”

The post follows reports that Choupette is set to inherit a large sum of Lagerfeld’s £150m fortune following his death.

According to French newspaper Le Figaro, Choupette could be entitled to Lagerfeld’s multi-million pound fortune under German law if she had been nominated as his “heir”.

The famous designer previously commented on the topic, referring to Choupette as an “heiress”.

He repeated the statement in an interview with Numéro in 2018 when he was asked to address the rumour that he’d named Choupette as an heir to his “vast fortune”.

“Among others, yes,” he replied before adding, ”don’t worry, there is enough for everyone”.

It has not yet been confirmed who will take care of Choupette now, but it has been rumoured that the late designer’s male model muse Brad Kroenig and his son Hudson, to whom Lagerfeld is godfather, may assume ownership.
