Amy Schumer crashes the met gala before giving birth

Amy Schumer has revealed the name of her newborn son.

On Tuesday, the comedian shared a photograph of her husband, Chris Fischer, holding their first child alongside the caption: “Gene Attell Fischer and his dad Chris.”

The baby’s middle name appears to be a tribute to the actor’s friend and fellow comedian, Dave Attell, who recently invited Schumer to perform at his show in New York City in January.

The Instagram post has since garnered more than 1m likes and received thousands of comments from well-wishers, a number of which are famous faces.

Actor Glenn Close commented on the photo, writing: “Congratulations, Amy! YOU DID IT! He is gorgeous. Sending love.”

Girls star Lena Dunham added: “Beauty boy and perfect best name”, while supermodel Cindy Crawford wrote: “Better than the Met Ball! Congrats!”

Schumer gave birth to her son on Sunday 5 May and announced his arrival on Instagram alongside a photo from the hospital.

“10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born,” the actor captioned the photo which showed Fischer leaning down to give his wife a kiss as she held the newborn.

The caption was a nod to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who welcomed their first child on Monday 6 May.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made the announcement on their recently launched Instagram account.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019,” the statement reads.

“Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.”

The announcement adds that the duchess and the newborn are both “healthy and well”.

Before she welcomed her first child on Sunday night, Schumer crashed the 2019 Met Gala.

Ahead of the biggest fashion event of the year, the comedian shared an Instagram post of herself dressed in leggings, a grey T-shirt and a beige cardigan standing on the steps of the Met surrounded by photographers.

“Met look this year,” Schumer captioned the photos, which have seen been liked more than 530,000 times.

“Last night on the way to the hospital.”

“Iconic,” one person wrote.

Another commented: “The best Met Gala outfit ever.”
