But, if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the high street, the final deadlines for online purchases are upon us.

To make sure your gifts will be wrapped and under the tree in time for the big day, we’ve created a roundup of retailers’ last order dates for delivery before Christmas.

Of course, it’s worth noting that external factors such as strikes or adverse weather could cause disruption so, if you really want to make sure you get what you want, we suggest ordering as soon as you can.

Amazon – Final delivery dates from Amazon depend entirely on the shipping method you select. For standard delivery you can order as late as 11:59pm on December 21 while one-day delivery orders can be submitted up until December 23 for delivery on Christmas Eve.

For people who live in cities like London, Liverpool, Glasgow or Cardiff, you also have the option of same-day evening delivery. Simply order by 12pm on Christmas Eve and you’ll receive your order later that day.

Asda – The last day for Christmas delivery and Click & Collect at Asda is December 23. That being said, the supermarket’s Christmas delivery slots are expected to fill up fast so book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Asos – There’s no chance of being caught giftless this year with Asos on hand. For standard Click & Collect, the online retailer is accepting orders up until 11:59pm on December 19, while customers using next day Click & Collect or standard delivery have until December 21.

If you’re going to use Asos’ next day delivery you have until 10pm on December 23 to place your order while those who live in certain postcodes can use Asos Instant and order up until 12pm on Christmas Eve for same-day delivery.

Debenhams – Delivery dates at Debenhams depend on the type of product you’re ordering, so if it’s a piece of furniture you’re after you’re going to need to see individual product pages for details.

For other items though, customers have until 11:59pm on December 17 to use standard delivery while those who order using next and nominated day or evening delivery have until December 21.

If you use Click & Collect in UK Mainland and Northern Ireland, you can order up until 9pm on December 22.

Harvey Nichols - High-end department store Harvey Nichols’ earliest cut-off date is December 15 for delivery to Scottish Highlands and Islands while those looking to gift Christmas hampers need to place their order by 3pm December 18 for delivery before Christmas Day.

Otherwise, the deadline for standard delivery is 3pm on December 19 and express delivery is 3pm on December 20.

John Lewis – If you’re shopping at John Lewis this Christmas and want to pick up your gift via Click & Collect at either a John Lewis or Waitrose store you need to place your order by 8pm on December 22.

For standard home delivery, your order needs to be placed by 7pm on December 19 and 8pm on December 22 for next day delivery.

Liberty London – To receive your Liberty London order on or before Christmas Eve you need to place an order by 4pm on December 17 using standard delivery.

If you use next-day delivery or Click & Collect, you can wait until December 20 or opt for its Special Christmas Delivery and make your order by 2pm on December 21.

Marks & Spencer - Delivery dates at Marks & Spencer depend on the type of product you’re ordering.

For clothing, home and beauty, standard delivery orders should be placed by December 17 while store collection and nominated-day delivery can wait until December 22.

Standard delivery deadlines on wine or special hampers mean orders need to be placed by December 17 or December 21 if customers use nominated-day delivery.

Christmas and New Year Food must be ordered by 5pm on December 15 to guarantee delivery.

Morrisons – If you’re ordering food from Morrisons this year the good news is that Christmas delivery slots are available to book now for delivery between December 20-24.

Delivery Pass customers are able to claim up to two free deliveries during this period.

Next – If you would like your gifts delivered to a Next store, you need to place your order online by December 20, while deliveries to your home address need to be placed by December 19.

These dates vary depending on the type of product you’re ordering with orders for Photo Gifts needing to be placed by December 17 and personalised gifts by December 18.

Next eGift Cards can be purchased online at any time and can be printed or emailed as a gift.

Net-a-Porter – Orders using standard or next-day delivery across the UK and Europe need to be placed by 3pm on December 20, while those using Net-a-Porter’s Premier delivery service have until 10am on Christmas Eve.

The retailer has also issued cut off dates for New Year with standard or next-day delivery orders needing to be placed by 3pm on December 27 and Premier orders by 10am on December 31.

PC World – To receive delivery in time for Christmas from PC World your best bet is to use its next-day delivery service which is available on orders up until 8pm on December 23.

Tesco – Delivery slots at Tesco go fast so if you want to make sure you receive your order in time for Christmas you need to act quickly.

Currently, there are booking slots available for delivery from December 20 to 24, however delivery on Christmas Eve is only available in selected areas.

Waterstones – You can walk into a Waterstones shop right up until Christmas Eve but if you want to shop online you need to pay attention to the retailer’s last order dates.

For second class delivery, orders need to be placed by 2pm on December 18, first class deliveries need to be placed by 2pm on December 19 and those using a UK Courier can be placed by 2pm on December 20.
