10 best dungarees
Channel Nineties chic with an on-trend all-in-one
Dungarees are having a fashion moment and there’s a lot to love about them: they’re super-comfortable, easy to wear and can help you look effortlessly stylish with genuinely very little effort. We’ve found our favourite pairs – not all of them denim – to rock this season.
1. Zara ‘I am denim’ dungarees: £39.99, Zara
Lot of high-end labels are incorporating patches into designs and the look has filtered down to the high street. Patches and dungarees go particularly well together, as exemplified by this pair from Zara, complete with super-relaxed fraying.
2. Pepe Jean Slate Dungarees: £115, Pepe Jeans
The London-based label has been a stalwart on the denim scene since it was established in the seventies. With its youthful aesthetic, Cara Delevingne and Georgia Jagger have both fronted its campaigns. These artfully distressed dungarees with rolled cuffs are some of our favourites this season.
3. Maje Pila stretch-denim overalls: £210, Net-A-Porter
This black option from the Parisian label is a chic take on the trend. You can turn them up at the hem or wear full length, and they have a bit of stretch to them so are more flattering than some.
4. Cos dungarees: £99, Cos
Like the style but want a change from denim? Then try this minimal-looking pair from the Swedish label with tapered legs. They’re stretchy and super comfortable and come in grey or black. We’ll be teaming ours with a simple white tee.
5. New Look Black Denim Cigarette Dungarees: £29.99, New Look
If you like the fit of cigarette pants, then give this casual black pair a try. There’s some distressing on the pockets and hem but they still have a certain chicness about them.
6. Obey Antwerp Overalls: £100, Obey
The American streetwear brand was founded by street artist Shepard Fairey (known as Obey), creator of Barack Obama’s famous ‘Hope’ poster used during the 2008 presidential election. These soft, blue linen dungarees have a relaxed fit, and are great for working the over-sized look.
7. Mango flowy dungarees: £39.99, Mango
Another change from denim, this khaki pair in an easy-to-wear, soft fabric with contrasting straps are an out-of-the-ordinary choice. There’s a drawstring waist so you can adjust the fit and the trousers are cropped for a spring-ready look.
8. Mih Jeans Clint denim overalls: £118, The Outnet
Sarah Jessica Parker and Naomi Watts are fans of the London-based denim label. This slim-fit pair of dungarees has snap fastenings down the front so they’re not as fiddly as they look. These aren’t stretchy, though, so you might want to go up a size.
9. H! by Henry Holland stripe denim culottes: £55, Debenhams
Update your denim wardrobe this spring with stripes and culottes with this pair from Henry Holland’s affordable line at Debenhams. It’s super trendy, yet super versatile.
10. Calvin Klein denim dungarees: £84, Zalando
With its latest campaign #mycalvins featuring Justin Bieber and FKA twigs, the classic CK logo is all over billboards and social media at the moment. Live the nineties’ comeback with this traditional-looking pair. They have a straight fit and no pockets.
We love Zara's dungarees which look fantastic and, with the added patches and fraying, add something a little bit different to proceedings - all for an affordable price.
