Netflix’s new true crime docuseries Tiger King has been labelled “absolutely bonkers”, with shocked viewers praising the show as the perfect binge-watch for quarantine.

Tiger King makes this quarantine seem normal,” wrote one viewer. Another added: “Me recapping how bats*** Tiger King is to random objects in my apartment.” A third wrote: “Tiger King is absolutely bonkers”.

A seven-part series, Tiger King retells the story of a prolific war between a flamboyant tiger owner named Joe Exotic and his arch nemesis, a Florida-based animal activist named Carole Baskin.

Exotic once ran a 16-acre private zoo, while Baskin would accuse Exotic of animal abuses, and specifically breeding tigers for the purposes of being photographed as cubs with excited visitors.

The series elaborately spirals from there, directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin investigating the feud over the course of five years. Along the way, the pair encountered a wild industry of private big cat ownership in the USA, at least one murder-for-hire, a cult revolving around exotic animals, and allegations of a millionaire being fed to tigers.

It has, somewhat naturally, found a captivated audience, with many eager to express their awe at the series on Twitter.

“Every single person in this Tiger King doc is certifiably f***ing crazy,” explained one fan. “It is the craziest thing I’ve ever watched, and we finished the Ted Bundy doc last week.”

“HAS ANYONE WATCHED TIGER KING ON NETFLIX???????????,” asked another on Twitter. “I am losing my f***ing mind how is this real how is any of this real so many things are happening.”

“I am a connoisseur of nuts documentaries,” wrote another. “The wackier the better, and lemme tell ya, just two episodes in, this Tiger King on Netflix is just on a whole different level of nuts.”

The show has also found some famous fans, with Game of Thrones actor Nathalie Emmanuel exclaiming: “IT. IS. CRAZY! These big cat people are as mad as a box of frogs…”

Kim Kardashian West also praised the series, asking: “Has anyone seen Tiger King on Netflix?!?! It is crazy!!!!”

Tiger King is currently streaming on Netflix.
