Mike Myers has been cast in a new six-episode comedy series for Netflix.

While details of the plot are currently under wraps, a press release has revealed Myers – known for his roles in Austin Powers and Shrek – will play multiple characters in the series.

The 55-year-old actor said: “I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in.”

Myers, who will also be one of the show’s executive producers, made his name on the satirical news and sketch show Saturday Night Live, and has starred in 124 episodes since 1989.

He is also known for SNL spin-off Wayne’s World (1992-93) and for playing several roles in the Austin Powers trilogy (since 1997), which is rumoured to return for a fourth film.

He recently appeared as the record executive Ray Foster in the 2018 Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

John Lyons and Jason Weinberg will executive produce the show alongside Myers, and Mackenzie Cyr and Justin Capraro-Gentuso will serve as associate producers.

Each episode will last 30 minutes – a release date is yet to be announced.
