James Corden spotted being towed in Carpool Karaoke segment

The team behind the Late Late Show have responded to the furore surrounding a viral video where it emerged that, in this particular instance, host James Corden was not driving the car in Carpool Karaoke.

Fans expressed disbelief after footage showed Corden and Justin Bieber in a Range Rover, which was being towed along the road as they filmed the popular segment.

An executive producer said the rig was only used on specific occasions, and then Corden usually drove the car himself.

“Not true!” he said to fans claiming the video proved Corden never drove the car. “We only use a rig when we are doing a 'stunt' as part of the Carpool - when it would be impossible for James to drive! This has occurred only maybe 4 times in 50 or so carpools... Safety is key!”

The Late Late Show Twitter account also responded with a lighthearted dig at anyone outraged by the video, by sharing a photo of Corden and Samuel L Jackson behind a steering wheel, as they recreated a famous scene from Pulp Fiction.

“Guys, we don't even use a real car,” they tweeted.

Carpool Karaoke, in which Corden drives stars around as they sing their hit songs, has hosted a number of artists including Celine Dion, Cardi B, Harry Styles, Adele and Mariah Carey.
