Bafta has announced that Graham Norton will host this year’s TV awards.

“It has been almost 15 years since I first hosted the Television Awards and what a pleasure it is to be returning to host once again,” the presenter said.

“2018 was a stand-out year for television and I look forward to seeing the brilliant talent in our industry rewarded.”

Norton takes over from Sue Perkins, who hosted the ceremony in 2018.

Killing Eve leads this year’s nominees with 14 nominations, closely followed by A Very English Scandal with 12.

There has been some controversy over the inclusion of Killing Eve as Bafta had to bend their own rules to allow the series to compete in the main categories.

The drama premiered in the United States before the UK, which normally disqualifies entrants. However, the jury decided the Phoebe Waller-Bridge series was sufficiently British.

Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are both up for Best Drama Actress, going against Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard) and Ruth Wilson (Mrs Wilson). Best television drama nominees are Killing Eve, Bodyguard, Save Me and Informer.

Hawes also picked up a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in Mrs Wilson, going up against Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Monica Dolan (A Very English Scandal) and Billie Piper (Collateral).

Other notable nominations include Ant and Dec, who feature in the Best Entertainment Performance category for Saturday Night Takeaway, despite Ant McPartlin not presenting the show following his arrest for drink-driving.

The ITV series is also in the running for Best Entertainment Programme, alongside Britain’s Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing and Michael McIntyre’s Big Show. The X Factor failed to make the cut.

Viral music documentary Bros: After The Screaming Stops is in the running for three awards, while Black Mirror: Bandersnatch has been nominated for single drama, alongside Care, Killed By My Debt and Through The Gates (On The Edge).

The 2019 Bafta TV awards take place on Sunday 12 March. The ceremony for the British Academy Television Craft Awards will take place at an earlier date, on 28 April.
