Which British stars are nominated for Golden Globes?

The 2020 Golden Globes are almost upon us as Hollywood prepares to celebrate the top films and TV shows of the year.

As tradition dictates, A-listers will gather at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California to see trophies in 25 categories get handed out – and, this year, eat exclusively vegan food. The ceremony as well as red carpet arrivals will air on television and online for pop culture fans to follow.

Here is everything you should know ahead of the 77th Golden Globes:

When is the ceremony?

The 2020 Golden Globes will take place on 5 January 2020 at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT/ 1am in the UK.

How can I watch it?

In the US, the ceremony is airing on television on NBC. No TV network is broadcasting it in the UK, but The Independent will be live-blogging it throughout the evening and night.

Pre-show coverage will air on the Golden Globes’ Facebook page from 6pm ET/ 3pm PT/ 11pm in the UK.

E! will kick off its red carpet earlier in the day with a countdown from 4pm ET/ 1pm PT/ 11pm in the UK. Hosts Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic will take over at 6pm ET/ 1pm PT/ 11pm in the UK for a full red-carpet show.

Who’s hosting?

Ricky Gervais is hosting the Golden Globes this year for the fifth time.

The comedian, known for his irreverent hosting style, recently revealed he regrets poking fun at Tim Allen during the 2011 ceremony.

Who are the top contenders?

Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story emerged ahead of the pack when the nominations for the 2020 Golden Globes were announced in December.

Game of Thrones, on the other hand, was massively snubbed, while Cats didn’t fare much better.
