Five Guys a Week: Channel 4’s ‘excruciating’ new dating show leaves viewers horrified
‘I’m still deciding whether this is pure cringe or utter genius’
Channel 4’s new dating series Five Guys a Week has been met with horror by viewers, with one asking: “What the hell are we watching?”
The new show, which debuted last night, has been compared to Netflix’s Love Is Blind in its high-concept attempts to help beautiful young people find love.
Five Guys a Week sees one brave woman invite five men to spend a week living with her in her home, before she must decide which one she believes she could start a relationship with.
“Half of me wonders what the hell we are watching,” one viewer tweeted. “The other half is hooked.”
Another tweeted: “I’m still deciding whether this is pure cringe or utter genius.”
“This is one of the cringiest f***ing things I’ve ever seen but it’s so f***ing addictive,” wrote one vaguely impressed viewer.
Others promised they’d be back to watch episode two, even if they couldn’t believe what they were seeing unfold.
“Let me tell you: #fiveguysaweek is one of the most excruciating things I have ever watched and I cannot get enough,” tweeted a viewer.
“That was honestly one of the worst things I’ve ever watched,” another wrote. “I look forward to next week’s instalment.”
Five Guys a Week screens on Tuesdays at 9.15pm on Channel 4.
