Game of Thrones theories: Fans believe Bran warged into the horse that saved Arya in season 8 episode 5

**Spoilers for Game of Thrones season eight, episode five ‘The Bells’ ahead**

The once saviour of Westeros has become the Mad Queen. During the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) burnt down King’s Landing as Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) watched from the Red Keep.

As King’s Landing fell, Arya ran through the streets, attempting (and failing) to help the city’s citizens. One moment saw a building come crashing down on the young Stark, who miraculously escaped the carnage relatively unscathed.

At the end of the episode, a horse comes to help Arya escape the city. Fans of the HBO show have theorised that the white horse was not there by accident, but actually being controlled by Bran.

Arya’s brother Bran was absent from the episode. But fans believe the Three-Eyed Raven had warged into the horse and rode into the city to find Arya.

Whether Bran was actually controlling the horse remains to be seen. There’s only one episode of the show remaining, and the horse seems unimportant enough not to be explained by the show.

The Independent‘s critic described “The Bells” as “out-of-tune” and criticised the episode’s writing, asking: “What is the logic here?”

Meanwhile, Varys actor Conleth Hill called his character’s demise “frustrating” and that the “last couple seasons weren’t my favourite”. Lena Headey has also spoken cautiously about her character’s death, revealing the reason why she initially felt “mixed” about the scene.
