Broadway producer Ben Sprecher has been arrested on charges of possession of child pornography.

Sprecher, who was behind the failed musical Rebecca, was arrested on Tuesday in Harlem, sources told The New York Post. A search warrant is reportedly being executed at his home.

The case was brought by Homeland Security Investigations in conjunction with the New York Police Department.

Sprecher is known for being embroiled in one of the biggest fraud scandals in theatre history. His musical Rebecca, a $12 million show that was meant to open in 2012, was axed after Sprecher and other investors discovered the play’s main backer did not exist.

A Long Island stockbroker, Mark Hotton, was arrested for conning Sprecher and the show’s other backers. He was sentenced to more than a decade in prison.

Sprecher’s recent credits include the London stage adaptation of the horror classic The Exorcist, which opened in 2016.
