Album: Faust, Faust Is Last (Klangbad)
One of the progenitors of "krautrock" and as charmingly elusive a bunch as the field has produced.
Apparently, the band now exist in two "completely different incarnations" both of which "reflect aspects of the original". This lot have delivered a 22-track double CD which expresses a familiar concern with shifting texture, deregulated rhythm and pure sound. A lot of it is lovely, some of it lovely like a vacuum cleaner. To observe that they lack funk is perhaps to strike an insufficiently positive attitude.
