White Stripes frontman Jack White and soul singer Alicia Keys have recorded the next Bond theme tune - Another Way To Die.

Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Grace Jones and Leona Lewis had all been tipped as frontrunners to perform the track in Quantum Of Solace.

Another Way To Die has been written by US star White, 33, who also plays drums on the track, and will be the first duet in Bond soundtrack history.

Daniel Craig reprises his role as 007 in Quantum Of Solace, the 22nd adventure in Bond history, when the film opens later this year.

Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: "We are delighted and pleased to have two such exciting artists as Jack and Alicia, who were inspired by our film to join together their extraordinary talents in creating a unique sound for Quantum Of Solace."

White formed The White Stripes, which have released six albums, with his sister Meg in 1997.

He is the band's lead singer, guitarist and songwriter and also formed The Raconteurs in 2005.

US Grammy Award-winner Keys, 27, first appeared on the music scene in 2001 with her debut album Songs In A Minor.

Previous performers of the Bond theme tune include Dame Shirley Bassey, Madonna, Sir Paul McCartney and Wings, Tom Jones, Lulu, Garbage, Tina Turner, Carly Simon, Duran Duran, Nancy Sinatra and Sheryl Crow.

US musician Chris Cornell recorded You Know My Name - the theme tune for Casino Royale, the last spy film in the hit franchise.
