Grammys 2019: Cardi B wins Best Rap Album

Miley Cyrus will headline Primavera Sound festival, following the news that Cardi B has dropped out due to “promotional commitments”.

The pop musician will perform at the festival on Friday, 31 May, sharing the line-up with Carly Rae Jepsen, Janelle Monáe and Robyn.

Festival organisers said that Cardi B’s appearance was cancelled ”due to promotional commitments in the United States that cannot be postponed.” They added that fans who bought a day ticket for the Friday will be able to receive a refund.

The festival’s 2019 line-up is notable for including as many female artists as it does male. It features 226 artists, of which more than 50 per cent are women, with a “variety of genres that goes from extreme metal to reggaeton”.

Festival organisers posted an article on their website entitled “Equality, Eclecticism and audacity in the revolutionary line up of Primavera sound 2019”, where they stated that this should be “the new normal”.

“Equality in the line-up between men and women, a stylistic eclecticism that is patently obvious and the drive to constantly take risks to connect to the times we live in are central concepts of the Primavera Sound 2019 line up,” the statement said.

Erykah Badu, Tame Impala, J Balvin, Rosalia, Future, Nas and Solange will also headline the festival, which runs from 30 May to 1 June.
