Kanye West announces he's bringing his Sunday Service to Coachella

Kanye West will bring his Sunday Service to Coachella.

The gospel-inspired performance will take place on Easter Sunday, 21 April at 9am.

Coachella posted a video of West confirming the news at his latest Sunday Service. “We were out in Palm Springs and they took us to a little campground, because we were thinking about a little performance in Palm Springs, just a little one. Then they had a mountain, he had a mountain waiting for us,” he told the crowd.

“He had a date waiting for us. Only one date that mountain would be available to us: Easter Sunday at Coachella. That confirmation was confirmed last night.”

The rapper’s Sunday Service sessions feature reworked versions of his own songs, alongside guest performances from the likes of Kid Cudi and 070 Shake. He has also used them to debut new music. A number of celebrities have attended the sessions, including Katy Perry and David Letterman.

West was originally meant to headline Coachella, which takes place in Indio, California, but dropped out shortly before the lineup announcement, reportedly due to the festival’s refusal to build him a custom-made dome on site. He was replaced by new headliner Ariana Grande.

Kim Kardashian West, who is married to the rapper, also shared a video of West announcing the news to passengers on board a flight.
