Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Lil Nas X all received early Grammys ahead of Sunday's ceremony in Los Angeles.

The video for “Old Town Road”, Lil Nas X’s popular tune with Billy Ray Cyrus, won the Best Music Video award, while Beyonce’s Netflix documentary Homecoming took Best Music Film.

Lady Gaga won two Grammys for A Star is Born. The track “I’ll Never Love Again” was crowned Best Song Written for Visual Media, while A Star is Born took Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

Gaga’s song “I’ll Always Remember Us This Way” had also scored a nomination in the Song of the Year category. The trophy went to Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy".

The Grammy Awards show was taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the home of Koke Bryant’s team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant’s death was announced just hours before the ceremony, and Harvey Mason Jr, the interim Recording Academy chief, opened proceedings before the main telecast with a call for a moment of silence.

Alicia Keys and Lil Nas X both paid homage to the NBA great during the ceremony.

Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Lana Del Rey and Lil Nas X were among the most nominated artists ahead of the ceremony.

Eilish, who turned 18 in December, dominated the evening with five wins.
