Dolly Parton will be the subject of an eight-part anthology series from Netflix , with each episode based on one of her songs.
In addition to credits as singer/songwriter, Parton will also serve as executive producer and appear in the series, according to Deadline .
"As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music," Parton said in a statement. "I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favourite songs to life with Netflix.
"We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros TV for their incredible support."
The deal is a similar one to when NBC took a series of standalone TV series based on Parton's "songs, stories and inspiring life", with an option for her to appear in them.

Coat of Many Colors, the movie spawned from the NBC deal, attracted almost 16m viewers and resulted in a sequel: Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.
The project will run via Parton's own Dixie Pixie Productions and Sam Haskell's Magnolia Hill Entertainment in association with Warner Bros Television.
Parton is currently finishing up the soundtrack to new Jennifer Aniston film Dumplin'. She released an album of children's music last year, and recently donated her 100 millionth children's book via her Imagination Library project.
