Coronavirus: Glastonbury donates gloves, face masks and hand sanitiser to emergency services

The iconic music festival is making the most of its supplies after this year’s event was cancelled due to coronavirus fears

Glastonbury Festival has donated medical supplies – including thousands of litres of hand sanitiser, gloves and face masks – to the emergency services.

The supplies had been stockpiled by festival organisers, before the world-famous music event was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Avon and Somerset Police tweeted their appreciation to the festival, and to festival founder Michael Eavis and co-organiser Emily Eavis.

“On behalf of the A&S Local Resilience Forum we’d like to extend a huge thank you to Michael & @emilyeavis for providing frontline emergency service workers & NHS staff with thousands of litres of hand sanitiser, gloves & face masks due to be used @glastonbury 2020”, they wrote, concluding with the hashtag “#SafeTogether”.

Glastonbury was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary this June, with headliners including Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar.

Demand for supplies like masks and hand sanitiser has skyrocketed in the wake of the deadly pandemic.

Eavis has confirmed that anyone who had a ticket for the 2020 festival will be able to use it to gain entry next year.
