Cardi B berates Donald Trump over US government shutdown

Cardi B has exchanged jibes with conservative commentator Tomi Lahren over the ongoing government shutdown in the US.

The feud began after the rapper posted an expletive-filled video on Instagram that condemned Donald Trump for his administration's decision to order furloughed employees back to work without pay.

She also criticised the fact that the shutdown was taking so long and that it was over funding for Trump's wall at the US-Mexico border.

Lahren decided to comment on Cardi B's video, tweeting: "Looks like @iamcardib is the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democrats. HA! Keep it up, guys!"

Cardi, who told GQ last year that she is "obsessed" with how the political system works, responded with: "Leave me alone I will dog walk you." Her tweet has received more than 736k likes.

"I'm sure you would. Still doesn't make your political rambling any less moronic. #Buildthatwall," Lahren wrote.

"You're so blinded with racism that you don't even realise the decisions the president you root for is destroying the country you claim to love so much," Cardi retorted. "You are a perfect example on no matter how educated or smart you think you are you are still a SHEEP!"

Around 800,000 federal workers have missed a paycheck during the nearly month-long shutdown, which is the longest in US history. Workers are increasingly turning to pawnbrokers for short-term loans, according to shop owners.
