Big Hit Entertainment has announced a new drama series based on the “BTS universe”.

Acording to Soompi, the record label announced in a press conference that the show will be made in collaboration with Chorokbaem Media, which has produced popular TV dramas including Memories of the Alhambra featuring Park Shin-Hye and Hyun Bin.

The coming-of-age drama will follow the lives of seven boys as they meet each other for the first time. Big Hit said it is planning to cast actors for the show, as the original BTS members will not be starring in the series. It is expected for release in the second half of 2020.

Earlier this month, a representative for BTS said the K-pop stars would be taking an “extended period of rest and relaxation” to recover from years of touring stadiums around the world, as well as from promotion of their record-breaking album Map of the Soul: Persona.

In October they will perform a show in Saudi Arabia at the King Fahd International Stadium, and conclude at Seoul’s Jamsil Olympic Stadium on 26, 27 and 29 October. A BTS documentary, Bring the Soul, premieres on 27 August exclusively on Big Hit social media app Weverse.
