Houghton Festival is set to launch its inaugural edition this August.

Produced by the team behind Gottwood festival in North Wales, and curated by renowned Fabric resident Craig Richards, it promises to bring together an eclectic mix of electronic music and art. It will take place among the grounds of Houghton Hall in Norfolk between August 10-13.

Ricardo Villalobos, the Chilean-born minimal DJ, will headline with a solo set, as well as making his UK live debut as one half of Vilod, his duo with Max Loderbauer.

Nicolas Jaar, Seth Troxler, Floating Points, Ben UFO, Joy Orbison and Roman Flügel are also on the bill, as are Henry Wu (formerly of the jazz duo Yussef Kamaal) and afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen, who will be performing a tribute to Art Blakey.

Organisers have said that lengthy DJ sets “will be the norm”, while “spontaneous back-to-back sets will be encouraged”.

“I made it clear that the people invited would be chosen on merit,” said Richards of the line-up curation. “All will be chefs not waiters.

“All are artists whose talent I value immensely. It is my intention that the festival represents the very best in electronic music and those performing are closest to my heart and record box.”

Music venues will include an abandoned warehouse and a subterranean, within a woodland area and set beside a lake.

Art and sculpture will also take a prominent place within the festival, with pieces by James Turrell, Richard Long and more on display.
